New York Prosecutors Release Documents From Cohen FBI Raid

New York Prosecutors on Tuesday unsealed copies of search warrants and other documents obtained in last April’s FBI raid on former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen’s home, office and hotel room.

“JUST IN: Partially redacted search warrant materials pertaining to the April 2018 raid on Michael Cohen’s home, office and hotel room have been released”

The documents include a treasure trove of search warrants, warrant applications and supporting affidavits connected to the raids on Cohen’s properties.

They also relate to the underlying searches of Cohen’s email, cellphone location data and other electronic devices.

In total, the release shows that federal prosecutors filed eight exhibits totaling 895 pages. Much of the documents have been redacted to hide Cohen’s private information, such as his email address, phone numbers, apartment number and safety deposit box.

The government will also hide details about Cohen’s and Trump’s campaign finance violations in order to protect the ongoing federal investigation into Trump’s hush-money payments to porn stars he had sex with.

U.S. District Judge William Pauley III ordered the release of the documents in February after being petitioned for them to be made public by several news organizations.

Cohen has pleaded guilty to several federal charges since the raids, and has been sentenced to three years in prison.

According to the Associated Press (AP):

“The FBI was investigating President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney and fixer for nearly a year before agents raided his home and office, the newly released documents show.”

“The documents show that the federal inquiry into Michael Cohen had been going on since July 2017 — far longer than had previously been known.”

“Lanny Davis, an attorney for Cohen, said the release of the search warrant “furthers his interest in continuing to cooperate and providing information and the truth about Donald Trump and the Trump organization to law enforcement and Congress.”
