In an interview on the ABC News podcast “The Investigation,” Vicky Ward said the president’s grown daughter and son-in-law, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, went into government not for public service but for self-service.
“Most people go into government for public service,” the author said on the podcast. “They do seem to have gone in for self-service.”
Watch here:
The British-born author of “Kushner, Inc.: Greed. Ambition. Corruption. The Extraordinary Story of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.” said the couple failed to live up to the public’s hopes, “The book’s main theme really is about two people who we all hoped, at the outset of this administration, would be the moral center of it — would be moderating influences on a president known for his extreme character and extreme policies.”
Ward isn’t sure the couple will ever face accountability, even though they’re exploiting their power for personal enrichment.
“Either they will (face scrutiny from) a combination of Congress and prosecutors. Or their path, their trajectory, will continue as it has, which seemingly is remarkably unstoppable.”
While her book offers “any threads that might interest prosecutors, Ward said that her book does not conclude that Kushner or his wife broke any laws.
It does, however, paint yet another picture of “unflattering anecdotes” about Ivanka and Jared, describing a world of clashes between Trump advisers and the couple, saying that she was careful to get stories from at least two sources because of the vendettas after interactions with the couple.
The White House has gone out of their way to deny Ward’s entire book.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler told CNN that Ivanka Trump could “conceivably certainly, I can’t say. Quite conceivably” be named on the nest list. “All the people on the list have given information already,” Nadler said, either to Special Counsel Robert Mueller for his probe of alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election or to federal prosecutors for the Southern District of New York in their corruption probe.
“All we’re asking for at this point is information they’ve already turned over so that can be done quickly and without questions of (presidential) privilege,” Nadler told CNN. Democrats sent requests for documents to 81 individuals and entities, including the president’s sons, however Ivanka Trump was left off of the list even though former Trump fixer Michael Cohen, who is now cooperating with Mueller, said he briefed Ivanka numerous times on the Trump Tower Moscow deal.
But Ivanka Trump was omitted, even though former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen told lawmakers last week he briefed her numerous times about a Trump skyscraper project in Moscow.
The probe is focused on alleged obstruction of justice, the alleged cover-up of violations of the law, corruption, emoluments clause violations, abuses of power, using official positions for personal gain, and more. To that end, Ward’s book suggests that Jared pushed Trump to fire former FBI Director James Comey.
The Trump White House is reportedly refusing to even acknowledge the power of Congress in regards to the document requests, which is yet another example of how this mafia-styled family assumes they are above the law.
