Levi Johnston Mayor of Wasilla?
According to Variety, Levi Johnston is following his former would be mother in law into both politics and reality TV. Johnston will be running for Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, and his campaign will be possibly accompanied by a reality television show titled “Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office.”
According to Variety.com, “Johnston will run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska — yes, the same job that propelled Sarah Palin to governor of Alaska (and later, the vice presidential nomination) — in a new reality project being pitched by Stone and Co.” Johnston admitted that he has warmed to the idea, “But the more I think about it and look into it, I think there’s a possibility we can make it happen. It’s something that I want to do.”
The idea of Levi following in the estranged would be Mama Grizzly in law’s footsteps and becoming mayor is not as outlandish as it may seem. The current mayor was elected with only 466 votes, and if he wins Johnston, unlike Palin, promises to stick around and not quit. The show’s producers are pushing the show as an alternative to Sarah Palin’s version of Alaska on TLC, “He will give us a real inside look into who he is as a father, a skilled hunter, an avid dirt biker, and his journey down the road of small-town politics… right after he gets his high school diploma.”
Stone and Company, the show’s producers have also produced programs like, Top Design (Bravo), NYC prep (Bravo), and The Man Show (Comedy Central), so anyone who thinks that this joke might want to think again. Of course, Johnston is out to make a living, and the added bonus of upping the ante in his feud with Sarah Palin had to be appealing, but let’s be honest, this is an oddly compelling concept, and if Levi is able to become mayor, it sort of puts a damper on that Real America Executive Experience, Palin is always toutin’.
It will be interesting to see what mean girl Sarah Palin has to say about this, because we all know that the self described pit bull with lipstick can’t keep her mouth shut or let the smallest personal slight real or perceived go by. Don’t be surprised if the Palin political machine takes a special interest in the mayoral election in her hometown.
