Bill Barr Is Threatening To Take Down Any FBI Official Who Investigates Election Interference

After his own inspector general report debunked the so-called “deep state” conspiracy theories pushed by Donald Trump, attorney general William Barr has been running a public relations campaign to convince the American people that the IG’s findings are all wrong.

Not only is Barr trashing his own IG report, but he’s also using his PR blitz to send a threatening message to FBI officials who investigate foreign election interference.

“He did a whole TV blitz to basically say that his own agency, the FBI, was spying on the Trump campaign, something that the inspector general said did not happen,” MSNBC’s Joy Reid said on Saturday.

Reid said that the attorney general’s media campaign is also sending a message to FBI agents that “if you go ahead and investigate foreign interference in our election, William Barr may come after you.”

You heard the head of the Justice Department going on a PR campaign, which is what he did. He did a whole TV blitz to basically say that his own agency, the FBI, was spying on the Trump campaign, something that the inspector general said did not happen. And now he’s saying, ‘Well, I’ve got a different report that’s going to find the motivations’ that he’s basically saying are bad motivations of people in the FBI and you’re that FBI agent and then you hear that Donald Trump may be again looking for foreign help and maybe again getting help from Russia or forcing help from Ukraine, what do you do? Would you then not be concerned that if you go ahead and investigate foreign interference in our election, William Barr may come after you.

Bill Barr is burning the Justice Department to the ground

Under Bill Barr, the Justice Department hasn’t just lost credibility, but it’s become a political weapon used to defend a corrupt and lawless president of the United States.

The American people saw it when – in one of his first major acts at AG – he misled the public about the contents of Robert Mueller’s damning Russia report.

Barr has been running political errands for Trump ever since, most recently jetting around the globe conducting Ukraine-style shakedowns to get election dirt for Trump, even as the president is on the verge of being impeached for doing the same thing.

Now the attorney general is basically saying that the American people shouldn’t believe any report – even if it comes from his own department – that doesn’t confirm the president’s lies.

Bill Barr is bending over backward to protect Donald Trump, and in the process, he’s inviting foreign election interference and burning the Justice Department to the ground.
