Trump Orders All Federal Agencies To Cancel Their New York Times And Washington Post Subscriptions

Trump is literally trying to make the bad news go away by ordering federal agencies to cancel their New York Times and Washington Post subscriptions.

According to The Wall Street Journal:

The White House is planning to instruct federal agencies to not renew their subscriptions to the New York Times and the Washington Post, administration officials said, escalating President Trump’s attacks on the media outlets.

“Not renewing subscriptions across all federal agencies will be a significant cost saving—hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars will be saved,” White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in an email Thursday.

There is a great deal of uncertainty related to how Trump could enforce the order, but this is what Donald Trump is spending his time doing. As he is being impeached, Trump is trying to get even with The New York Times and Washington Post by making sure that no federal agencies will be subscribed to the paper.

The cost savings that the White House Press Secretary referred to aren’t enough to cover the cost of one Trump weekend golf trip, so the president’s move is not about trying to save taxpayers money. If Trump really wanted to save money for the taxpayers, he would take his salary and start paying for his golf trips out of his own pocket.

It is nothing more than childish and petty lashing out at his imagined enemies in the media. I say imagined because there are few that want Trump reelected more than the Times and Post. Trump has generated enormous profits for them while making what looked to be dying newspaper giants relevant again.

Trump is about to be impeached, and he is spending his time worried about government agencies being subscribed to The Washington Post and New York Times.
