The top Republican in the House, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) humiliated himself by trying to push a debunked Trump conspiracy about Adam Schiff.
McCarthy tweeted:

The C.I.A. officer approached a House Intelligence Committee aide with his concerns about Mr. Trump only after he had had a colleague first convey them to the C.I.A.’s top lawyer. Concerned about how that initial avenue for airing his allegations through the C.I.A. was unfolding, the officer then approached the House aide. In both cases, the original accusation was vague.
The House staff member, following the committee’s procedures, suggested the officer find a lawyer to advise him and file a whistle-blower complaint. The aide shared some of what the officer conveyed to Mr. Schiff. The aide did not share the whistle-blower’s identity with Mr. Schiff, an official said.
There was no orchestration with Rep. Schiff. The House staffer followed proper procedure by telling the whistleblower to get a lawyer to help them.
The whistleblower’s lawyer has also knocked down the Trump delusion that there was some sort of conspiracy against him.
Kevin McCarthy humiliated himself to try to protect Donald Trump. McCarthy lied to the American people in an effort to discredit the whistleblower allegation and Trump impeachment. It is sad to see how far that the Republican Party has fallen under Trump.
Trump is about to be impeached, and since Republicans can’t argue the facts, they are hoping that a big lie can save Donald Trump.
