Democrats May Try To Block Funds If Trump Holds G7 At His Golf Club

Trump is trying to hold the G7 at his failing Doral golf club, but Democrats could move to block the use any federal funds if the summit is held at a Trump property.

Video:

Bill Kristol brought up the idea of blocking funds on MSNBC, “He’s obviously just ignored any kind of conflicts of interest in terms of the Trump Hotel in D.C., his daughter and son-in-law pretty much ignored all kinds of conflicts of interest. This is sort of taking it to another level I think with the whole G7. I mean, congress could do something. They could either pass a resolution requesting that the G7 not be at the Doral or a property that President Trump controls. They could every to block the expenditure of funds for such a summit at such a property. There are people who could cause some maybe raise questions about this. But Trump loves Putin. I’m trying to think. what is he very consistent about? He loves president Putin, he loves himself, he loves president Putin and his properties.”

It is easy to see House Democrats passing a resolution that would ban the use of any federal funds at a Trump-owned property for the G7. House Democrats have been discussing different legislation that they could use to block federal dollars from being spent at Trump properties. It is unclear if Democrats could block the funding for a summit, like G7, or if Trump would call it a matter of national security and use money from the military budget to line his own pockets and boost his money-losing Doral golf club.

Expect Democrats to try to block Trump from such an overtly corrupt act as soon as he officially announces that the G7 will be held at his golf club.
