Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) defended his constituents and responded with total class after a racist attack from Donald Trump.
Rep. Cummings tweeted:
Mr. President, I go home to my district daily. Each morning, I wake up, and I go and fight for my neighbors.
It is my constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch. But, it is my moral duty to fight for my constituents.

Just yesterday, I held a hearing on the skyrocketing prices of prescription drugs and the financial hardships that families across the nation, and in Baltimore, are facing.

Mr. President, we can address this together. Two years ago, I went to the White House to ask you to endorse my bill to let the government negotiate directly for lower drug prices.

Rep. Cummings didn’t get down in the mud and dirt and fight with Donald Trump. Cummings defended his constituents and put the people of his district first. Trump talks a lot about lowering prescription drug prices, which contrary to his false claims, he has not done. Rep. Cummings gave him the perfect opportunity to do something to help people.
Elijah Cummings won’t mudsling with Donald Trump, but he will defend and fight for his constituents. Rep. Cummings’ response showed what real leadership looks like, and in the process humiliated Donald Trump by showing the country how pathetic and small this president is.
