According to a new Fox News survey released on Thursday, Donald Trump’s support is stuck in the 30s in a hypothetical matchup against former vice president Joe Biden.
The poll shows that if Biden is Trump’s opponent in 2020, 49 percent would vote for the former VP and just 39 percent would support the current president.
According to the survey, Biden is clearly the most electable Democrat tested against Trump. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is the only other Democratic hopeful with a lead over the president. Both Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris trail Trump by a single point.
The complete breakdown via Fox News:
When it comes to the fight for the Democratic nomination, the survey shows that the post-debate bump for Kamala Harris has come to an end.
According to the poll, Biden leads his closest opponent, Bernie Sanders, by nearly 20 percentage points – 33 percent to 15 percent. Sens. Warren and Harris clock in at 12 and 10 percent, respectively.
The complete breakdown:
As CNN analyst Harry Enten pointed out on Thursday, the poll is the latest evidence that Biden is recovering whatever support he might have lost following the first Democratic debate.
Meanwhile, support for Kamala Harris appears to have stabilized as she sits in fourth place behind Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
The fight for the Democratic nomination is far from over, and there are still months of debates before primary voters cast their ballots.
But up until this point, the primary appears to be stable. Biden’s lead now is almost exactly the same as it was before the first debate, which many political experts called a game-changer.
Ahead of next week’s second round of debates, former vice president Joe Biden remains the Democratic frontrunner as primary voters want a nominee who they feel has the best shot of defeating Donald Trump in 2020.
