Trump Breaks The Law By Canceling English Classes And Legal Aid For Detained Kids

Trump is likely in violation of a court order by having his administration cancel English classes, legal aid, and soccer for detained children.

According to The Washington Post:

The Trump administration is canceling English classes, recreational programs, and legal aid for unaccompanied minors staying in federal migrant shelters nationwide, saying the immigration influx at the southern border has created critical budget pressures.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement has begun discontinuing the funding stream for activities — including soccer — that have been deemed “not directly necessary for the protection of life and safety, including education services, legal services, and recreation,” said U.S. Health and Human Services spokesman Mark Weber.

The point of the policy is not restricting immigration. The point of Trump’s policy is to harm children through every cruel method imaginable. These are underage children. They are not adults who made the decision to come to the United States. Trump isn’t trying to solve a problem. He is harming children in an effort to look tough because the Trump administration believes that cruelty is a policy that can stop immigration.

Trump is breaking the law. He is going to lose in court, and his harming of children is going to continue to damage the Republican Party. The be cruel to kids strategy backfired in 2018, it will have dire political consequences for Trump next year.
