While ranting about the trade war that he is losing with China, Trump declared himself to be America’s all-time favorite president.
Trump thinks that he is America’s all-time favorite president
Trump tweeted:
Build your products in the United States and there are NO TARIFFS!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 10, 2019
Your all time favorite President got tired of waiting for China to help out and start buying from our FARMERS, the greatest anywhere in the World!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 10, 2019
Trump thinks that he is America’s all-time favorite president, even though he has never had an approval rating above 50% in any credible poll, and support for impeaching him has grown 5% in less than a month.
Trump is not America’s all-time favorite president
Modern polling only dates back roughly seventy years, so it is impossible to compare how Trump would rate against any of the Founding Fathers or presidents from previous eras, but Ipsos and University of Virginia Center for Politics conducted a poll in 2018 asking Americans to rank the 12 most recent presidents in terms of popularity, and Trump was tenth out of twelve. Trump trailed on LBJ and Richard Nixon in the race to the bottom. The top three presidents were John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and Barack Obama with Bill Clinton in fourth.
In less than 24 hours, Trump has claimed that Lincoln lost the Civil War and that he is America’s all-time favorite president.
As his legal troubles worsen, and the threat of being a one-term president looms, Trump has retreated deeper into a world of fantasy and delusion.
