House Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler rejected AG Barr’s water down offer made to avoid a contempt vote.
CNN’s Manu Raju tweeted:
Democrats have two demands that Barr’s offer didn’t touch. House Democrats want full access to the unredacted Mueller report, and more importantly all of the underlying evidence that Robert Mueller used in his investigation. Any offer that didn’t meet those two conditions was going to be rejected. Democrats are in the driver’s seat. They can hold Barr in contempt and then sue him for the full report and evidence.
AG Barr is stalling for time. His orders from Trump appear to be to drag the turn over of the information out for as long as possible. Trump is trying to run out the clock to get through the 2020 election. Rep. Nadler is keeping the pressure on, and until the offer is exactly what they need, Democrats are not going to say yes.
