Mueller’s Reality Bomb Triggers Trump To Tell 57 Lies A Day

Congratulations, America! The “president” has now made 10,000 false or misleading claims while in office. What a lot of winning.

Monday morning, the Washington Post fact checker column announced, “President Trump has made more than 10,000 false or misleading claims.”

The part that’s rather frightening, given that this is the man who imagined that he watched “thousands and thousands” cheering on 9/11 in New Jersey and still believes this to this day even though no such footage was ever found, Trump’s lies have picked up their pace.

Trump now lies so much in a day that he has lied more in a single month than he did in the first five months of his presidency, they noted.

“All told, the president racked up 171 false or misleading claims in just three days, April 25-27. That’s more than he made in any single month in the first five months of his presidency.”

Remember, in the first months of his presidency Trump was insisting that his inauguration was the biggest ever, when in fact it paled in comparison to President Obama’s. In fact, the Women’s March that closely followed Trump’s inauguration was the second busiest day in Metro history, coming in second only to President Obama’s 2009 inauguration, according to Faiz Siddiqui, a Washington Post transportation reporter, who also noted at the time:

“Metro ridership for @POTUS Inauguration: 570,557 trips
Metro ridership for the #WomensMarch: 1,001,613 trips”

CNN’s Chris Cillizza noted that Trump is basically lying 57 times a day, and that’s a challenge, “Think on that for a minute. In a three-day period, the President said or tweeted 171 untruths. That’s an average of 57 untruths a day. It’s hard to do that even if you are trying.”

Donald Trump’s lies are escalating as the truths behind the redacted Mueller report reveal that Trump did in fact obstruct justice, and Mueller left it to Congress, as is the proper and normal process, to determine if they should refer a criminal case and or impeach the president.

We have a president who refuses to deal with reality, who traffics in falsehoods and propaganda while befriending strongmen and dictators at the same time as he turns his backs on our principles and humanitarian leadership in the world.

Trump’s lies are picking up pace because reality has gotten the better of him, as one thing he didn’t expect to happen is that a president can’t control the narrative forever. A president of the United States is in fact not supposed to control information on the most basic level. All of his life, Trump has been able to use money, power, and legal muscle to sustain his own mythology.

A president can’t do that in a free country.
