Let America Vote has launched a new campaign targeted four GOP Senate seats that if flipped would fire Mitch McConnell as Majority Leader.
According to a Let America Vote statement provided to PoliticusUSA:
The project will start by focusing on four 2020 U.S. Senate races held by incumbents who support McConnell: Colorado (Senator Cory Gardner), North Carolina (Senator Thom Tillis), Arizona (Senator Martha McSally) and Iowa (Senator Joni Ernst). Let America Vote will fundraise into accounts that will go to whoever wins the Democratic primary in each state, hold events to mobilize voters, recruit volunteers to knock on doors, make phone calls and send texts for the challengers, and run digital advertisements.
Later this spring, Let America Vote will add Kentucky to the list of targets to help stop McConnell from coming back to Washington at all. We will also be watching Senate races in Georgia, Maine and Texas, among others, throughout the cycle to determine additional races to add to the project.
McConnell has been the biggest enemy of voting rights in Congress. He is also the biggest proponent of Citizens United. There are a lot of reasons to get rid of Majority Leader McConnell. His protection of Trump, shady dealings with Russia, theft of a Supreme Court seat, and obstruction are four of the biggest, but the Senator from Kentucky is also a champion of making it more difficult for the American people to vote.
Republicans are going to be fighting battles on multiple fronts in 2020, but unless Democrats want a return to the years of holding the White House and having obstructionist Mitch block everything in the Senate, they must not only take back the White House but send Mitch McConnell packing.
One of the best ways to protect voting rights is to make Chuck Schumer majority leader and strip Mitch McConnell of his power.
