The Pences Are Melting Down After Pete Buttigieg Calls Out Their Religious Hypocrisy

Rising Democratic star Pete Buttigieg’s comments about Mike Pence’s religious hypocrisy have clearly struck a nerve within the vice president’s family.

In new remarks to Fox News hack Brian Kilmeade, Karen Pence – wife of the VP – responded to the South Bend mayor, saying she feels as though she is being “attacked” for her religious beliefs.

“I think in our country we need to understand you shouldn’t be attacked for what your religious beliefs are and I think kids need to learn that at a young age that this is OK, what faith people have; we don’t attack them for their faith,” Mrs. Pence said.

She added that Buttigieg is only making the remarks to “get some notoriety.”

Karen Pence’s comments come after Buttigieg went straight after the vice president’s religious hypocrisy, saying, “Speaking only for myself, I can tell you that if me being gay was a choice, it was a choice that was made far, far above my pay grade.”

The mayor added, “[T]hat’s the thing I wish the Mike Pences of the world would understand. If you’ve got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me. Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.”

Buttigieg also recently took issue with Christian evangelicals who continue to support Trump, a man who thumps his chest, puts down others and pays off adult film actresses.

Cry us a river, Karen Pence

It’s quite rich to hear somebody like Karen Pence whine about being attacked for her religious beliefs.

First, Pete Buttigieg wasn’t attacking Mike Pence’s religion. He was exposing the vice president for using religion to look down upon and discriminate against the LGBTQ community.

In other words, if she wants to lecture somebody for attacking peoples’ beliefs, she should start with her husband (and her husband’s boss).

Second, it is absurd to watch somebody who signed up to work for Donald Trump – a thrice-married sexual predator who does nothing but attack others, particularly religious minorities – whine about being attacked for her beliefs.

Ultimately, the faux outrage coming from the Pences isn’t because Pete Buttigieg is unfairly attacking them. It’s because he’s telling the cold, hard truth.
