Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has the Trump cover-up in high gear as he has refused to release the Mueller report for the third time.
Sen. Dick Durban (D-IL) said:
The spin that Republicans and the White House put on their summary of the report is that it exonerates Trump, but the behavior of Republicans and the growing consensus among experts suggests that the Mueller report is damning evidence, not an exoneration of this president. Mueller’s grand jury is still hard at work. The evidence and cases that the special counsel handed off are being investigated and prosecuted. Trump mounted a PR effort to end the Russia investigation, as what is really happening a cover-up.
If the Mueller report is such a great development for Trump, why do Republicans continue to oppose it being made public? Why won’t Mitch McConnell allow a vote on making the Mueller report public? The answer is that there are facts in the Mueller report that Republicans and Trump don’t want the voters to know. If Trump has nothing to hide, McConnell should stop standing in the way, and let the Senate vote on a resolution to release the report.
The Republican spin has faded away and what is left are questions about what Trump is hiding.
