Democrats Aren’t Relying On Mueller To Bring Down Trump

Democrats aren’t going to rely on Special Counsel Robert Mueller to do all of the necessary investigations into Donald Trump.

House Democrats are going beyond Mueller

House Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) made it clear that Democrats and Mueller are in two different lanes.

While speaking to Rachel Maddow, Nadler said, ” Our job is very different from other law enforcement agencies. The special prosecutor has a specific mandate the Russian collusion by the Trump administration or anybody else with that interference with the election, and only to look at crimes. The southern district of New York looks at crimes. We have to look at a much broader question. We have — our job is to protect the rule of law in this country. That means we have to look at the three major threats to the rule of law we’ve seen and that is corruption, personal enrichment in violation of the emoluments clause. And it means abuse of power and in terms of various things that have been done and means interference with elections. It means abuse of power, attacks on the press and judiciary and attacks on law enforcement agencies and obstruction of justice interference with the various investigations that are going on.”

Democrats are investigating impeachable offenses, not prosecutable crimes

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is investigating Trump’s communications with Putin . Banking Committee Chairwoman Rep. Maxine Waters is digging deep into Trump’s loans and whether he carried out various schemes to dodge paying taxes. The House is also investigating Trump’s abuses of power while in office. From firing James Comey to interfering with mergers, and leaning on Matt Whitaker to unrecuse a Trump loyalist in the Southern District of New York.

House Democrats are protecting the rule of law and checking a president. They are not limited by what can be prosecuted.

By the time House Democrats are finished, Robert Mueller will be the least of Trump’s problems.
