MSNBC host Katy Tur didn’t hold back on Monday as she called Donald Trump dumb for not understanding how climate change works.
During a discussion about Republican inaction on the environment, the MSNBC host pointed out how Trump takes pride in his ignorance on the issue – and how the GOP is following right along.
Tur cited a Twitter post from last month in which the president whined about negative wind chills in the midwest and said about global warming, “Please come back fast, we need you!”
In the beautiful Midwest, windchill temperatures are reaching minus 60 degrees, the coldest ever recorded. In coming days, expected to get even colder. People can’t last outside even for minutes. What the hell is going on with Global Waming? Please come back fast, we need you!

“It’s a dumb tweet,” Tur said. “I’m just going to say it. It’s one of the dumbest tweets he’s probably sent out.”

Trump’s climate change ignorance is astonishing and dangerous
Donald Trump has been pushing nonsense about climate change for years. His entire belief system when it comes to the environment is rooted in ignorance.
He has repeatedly responded to cold weather – also known as winter – by wishing for more global warming.
In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!

In an infamous 2012 tweet, Trump floated the idea that climate change “was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.”
The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.

While these crackpot theories may have been easy to dismiss back then when Trump was the Twitter version of a drunk man sitting alone at the end of a bar, they shouldn’t be taken lightly now.
Trump is no longer just a game show host looking for attention and ratings. He’s the president of the United States. His conspiracy theories are used to create actual policy.
Climate change is a big enough threat on its own, but Donald Trump‘s ignorance – his proud stupidity – is making it much more dangerous.
The future of the planet is too important to be mincing words.
