Even though there is a tape of Trump discussing felonies with Michael Cohen, the president is blaming the ex-lawyer for his crimes.

Trump said during an interview on Fox News, “I never directed him to do anything wrong. Whatever he did, he did on his own. He’s a lawyer. A Lawyer who represents a client is supposed to do the right thing. He’s a lawyer. He represents a client. I never directed him to do anything incorrect or wrong. He understands that. He did some bad things the unrelated to me.”

Here is the tape of Trump discussing the illegal payments with Michael Cohen:

There are several facts that Trump can’t avoid. He directed Cohen to pay the hush money to keep the women that he had affairs with quiet. Trump engaged in a conspiracy to pay the funds in an illegal way that would avoid detection under campaign finance laws. The payments were a benefit to his campaign that violated the law.

Donald Trump’s story is that he is the one who had affairs with the women, but Michael Cohen was the person who took all of the legal risks and masterminded the conspiracy hush money payments. Trump’s story defies common sense. Trump told Cohen to commit illegal acts. Trump was involved in the planning and carrying out of crimes.

The president thinks that since Cohen is now a convicted felon, he can blame it all on his former lawyer and walk away with no damage done, but just like with Richard Nixon, the tapes will be Trump’s undoing.

Trump lies, but the tapes don’t, and it is the tapes that will end this presidency.
