During an absolute dumpster fire of a press conference on Wednesday, the adult-sized toddler-in-chief admitted that his own history of sexual assault is partly why he continues to support embattled Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
When Donald Trump was asked about the allegations that have plagued him throughout his life, he said they “impact my opinion” on how he views Kavanaugh‘s accusers.
“It does impact my opinion. You know why? Because I’ve had a lot of false charges made against me,” the president said.
In other words, Trump is standing by Kavanaugh because he’s one of his own – a man with a troubling history of sexual misconduct.

Trump and Republicans don’t care about Thursday’s hearing
What the president is essentially admitting is that it doesn’t matter what happens in tomorrow’s hearing, when Kavanaugh accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford will tell her story before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
In the text of Dr. Ford’s opening statement that was released a short time ago, she said, “The details about that night that bring me here today are ones I will never forget. They have been seared into my memory and have haunted me episodically as an adult.”
Despite the revelations that Ford is preparing to share in her testimony, Trump‘s comments today suggest that he continues to see Kavanaugh as the true victim. That’s because, as Trump said, he’s “had a lot of false charges” against him, too.
And if Trump gives the three Kavanaugh accusers the benefit of the doubt, then he would have to do the same thing for the dozen-plus women that claim to have been sexually assaulted by him.
When Trump defends Brett Kavanaugh as he did during his insane press conference on Wednesday, he is in effect defending himself from his own history of sexual assault.
