Nikki Haley was asked about Trump‘s declining mental state, and her answer was laughably lacking in strength.

STEPHANOPOULOS: North Korea, one of the big subjects on the table at the UN General Assembly this week.

And we’re joined now by the president’s UN Ambassador Nikki Haley. And ambassador, thank you for joining us.

I do want to get to that. But first, I just have to ask you. We just had this discussion about the Rod Rosenstein story in The New York Times. Have you ever been part of any discussion on pursuing the 25th amendment as a member of the cabinet?

NIKKI HALEY, U.S. AMBASSADOR TO THE UN: I have never been part of it. I’ve never heard it. I don’t think that is a reality at all among all of the cabinet members. I’ve just never heard that. That’s absurd.

Nikki Haley’s Defense Of Trump Of Trump’s Mental State Was Ridiculous

It is understandable why the question was asked given recent news reports about Trump‘s mental state, but Nikki Haley is the UN Ambassador. She is not based in the White House, or even Washington, DC. Haley is the cabinet member who would have some of the lowest levels of direct contact with Trump, and she would be one of the least aware of what is going on inside the White House.

Haley never denied that there had been talk of removing Trump. Her answer was that she never heard of any such conversation. Haley’s answer was a dodge, but it was also ridiculous. Even his own administration can’t really defend Trump‘s mental state. Haley’s answer may have made Trump happy, but it did nothing to ease the concern that the President Of The United States is mentally declining.
