Minnesota State Rep. Ends His Reelection After Allegations That He Inappropriately Touched His Daughter

Last updated on September 24th, 2018 at 06:41 am

Minnesota state Rep. Jim Knoblach abruptly ended his reelection campaign as Minnesota Public Radio was about to drop a story about his inappropriate touching of his daughter.

MPR reported:
Republican state Rep. Jim Knoblach abruptly ended his re-election campaign Friday as MPR News prepared to publish detailed accusations from his daughter of inappropriate behavior toward her since childhood.

The announcement came hours after an attorney for Knoblach denied the allegations in an interview.

Knoblach, an eight-term representative, is accused of inappropriately touching his daughter Laura for most of her life. His daughter came forward in the media after every other option to hold her father accountable went nowhere.

The Party Of Family Values Is Now The Party Of Family Predators

The Republican Party has become a party in Donald Trump‘s image. Trump is accused of sexually harassing or assaulting dozens of women. Trump has had staffers, including his former White House staff secretary Rob Porter accused of violence against women. Trump‘s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh is accused of sexual assault. The Republican Party ran a Senate candidate in Alabama who was accused of being a statutory rapist.

It isn’t surprising that Knoblach’s daughter could not get justice. People who have power can cover up their crimes. It is a common story that a victim is often silenced, ignored, or punished when he or she tries to come forward against a person or an institution that has power in a community.
However, there seems to be a distinct problem in the Republican Party. As the GOP has pushed women out of their party, they have become the party of white male Republicans.

The Republican Party was once self-described as the party of family values. They are now the party of predators.
