Rachel Maddow Dominates With The #1 Show On Cable For The Second Straight Night

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow had the number one show on all of cable television for the second straight night.

MSNBC provided the viewership numbers to PoliticusUSA:

On Wednesday, for the second night in a row, MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” was the #1 most-watched program across all cable TV, according to Nielsen. “Maddow” also ranked #5 across all broadcast TV, and was the #1 cable news program of the night in both A25-54 and total viewers.

In total, four MSNBC shows ranked in the Top 10 in total viewers across all cable: “Maddow” #1; “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” #3; “The 11th Hour with Brian Williams” #7; and “All In with Chris Hayes” #8.

Also for the second night in a row, MSNBC prime (8-11pm) was #1 in both A25-54 and total viewers, beating FOX News and CNN.

As you can see, Rachel Maddow beat the Sean Hannity Trump propaganda hour by more than 400,000 viewers. The only difference from the previous night’s ratings is that The Last Word with Lawerence O’Donnell finished third instead of second.

Rachel Maddow is riding a public thirst for facts to the top

In a political time of constant Trump lies, Rachel Maddow is the anti-Trump. Her program is calm and fact-based. The Rachel Maddow Show is also one of the few programs on cable news that is willing to do a deep dive on a single topic each night. Many shows are often afraid of viewers changing the channel, so they hit as many subjects as they can and keep things moving.

Information comes first on Rachel Maddow’s show, and she spends as much as she needs to tell the story.

Rachel Maddow is the perfect person at the perfect time to be leading cable news in the era of Trump, and her ratings demonstrate that there is a deep hunger for more serious reporting during this era of Trump.
