Trump Calls Opponents Of His Supreme Court Nominee Unpatriotic

Donald Trump openly questioned the patriotism of those who don’t support the confirmation of his Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.

Trump’s insulting comment came in a Monday evening tweet meant to thank Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who recently announced that he would be supporting the president’s SCOTUS pick.

“Thank you to [Rand Paul] for your YES on a future great Justice of the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh,” Trump tweeted. “Your vote means a lot to me, and to everyone who loves our Country!”

In other words: If you don’t support Trump’s pick – a right-wing extremist who believes presidents are above the law – then you don’t love your country.

Reminder: Trump sold out his own country to Vladimir Putin

Donald Trump and his supporters constantly assert – without any factual basis – that he is a president who “puts America first.” Of course, that has never been the case.

Over the past year and a half, Trump has repeatedly put his own political survival over the wellbeing of the country by waging war on U.S. institutions and democracy broadly.

Nowhere was his own lack of patriotism more clear than in Helsinki, when Trump proudly sold out his own country while standing next to Vladimir Putin, an American adversary that just so happened to install him in the White House.

Time and time again, in pursuit of covering his own tail, Trump has pledged allegiance to Russia.

In the instances when he does wrap himself in the U.S. flag – see his ongoing feud over the NFL’s national anthem policy – it’s only to stir up his own base and score political points.

Trump – a man who has repeatedly sold out the United States to Russia and only touts his love of country to score political points – is the last person who should be giving unsolicited lectures on patriotism.
