President Donald Trump on Friday posted one of his most outrageous tweets ever, completely discounting and disregarding the massive amounts of pain and suffering that he has caused for immigrant parents and children. In this tweet he dismissed the many credible media reports about traumatic child separations as “phony stories of sadness and grief.”
He tweeted:
“We must maintain a Strong Southern Border. We cannot allow our Country to be overrun by illegal immigrants as the Democrats tell their phony stories of sadness and grief, hoping it will help them in the elections. Obama and others had the same pictures, and did nothing about it!”

Donald Trump seems unable to stop blaming former President Barack Obama and other Democrats for all of the problems he has caused. He must think this is going to help him politically as he seeks more “wedge” issues to divide the country.
It is of course true that the Obama administration detained immigrant families that illegally entered the United States, but they had no “zero tolerance” policy that required criminal arrest of all adults, nor did Obama forcibly take children away from their parents at the border.
Donald Trump and his administration have the distinction of being the first ones in American history to implement these heinous and cruel policies that break up families. They say that it was intended as a “deterrent” but all it has done is create massive amounts of pain, and destroy the United States’ reputation in the eyes of the world community.
Trump himself said last week that it was “cruel” to separate families at the border and numerous times he has tried — through Twitter and in interviews — to falsely blame Democrats for his own heinous and inhumane immigration policies and enforcement practices. For example, a few days ago he posted a tweet that said,
“The Democrats are forcing the breakup of families at the Border with their horrible and cruel legislative agenda.”
It is possible that Trump is senile and has completely forgotten what tweets he sent just a few days ago. However one thing for sure is that the stories of sadness and grief being told at the border are not “phony” and he is the one causing them.
