Trump Loses Again As Judge Rules Cuts To Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program Illegal

A federal judge has ruled that Trump’s cuts to a program established by former President Obama to curb teen pregnancy were illegal.

Federal District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson ruled that Trump’s decision to cut the funds for Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program in 2018 instead of 2020 was illegal and that HHS has to accept and process the applications for grants. The Trump administration lost because they tried to discontinue grants that had been awarded for five years in 2015 two years early.

This mentality is consistently displayed by the Trump administration’s belief that they are not legally bound by actions taken by previous presidents, and the by their above the law mentality.

Sean Sherman, Attorney, Public Citizen Litigation Group said in a statement, “The court’s decision today is a rebuke of the Trump administration’s effort to kill a program that is working effectively to lower teen pregnancy rates. Because of the court’s ruling, the four grantees will be able to continue to serve their local communities and to conduct important research. The court’s decision confirms that HHS must administer the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program in accordance with the agency’s own regulations and the requirement of reasoned decision-making.”

Trump promised to win when he was a candidate, but as president, all he has done is lose. Court ruling after court ruling has demonstrated that this a lawless administration being run by a lawless president, and the only way to hold them accountable is to take this White House to court.
