Trump Threatens Veto of Spending Bill

Of course it had to be a tweet.  Early Friday morning President Donald Trump did what he does best:  He posted a short message on Twitter saying he was not happy with the spending bill which was passed by both houses of Congress just the day before.  He expressed displeasure with the lack of a DACA solution and inadequate funding for his signature proposal, a border wall with Mexico.

In his tweet Trump said, “I am considering a VETO of the Omnibus Spending Bill based on the fact that the 800,000 plus DACA recipients have been totally abandoned by the Democrats (not even mentioned in Bill) and the BORDER WALL, which is desperately needed for our National Defense, is not fully funded.”

It’s not clear what Trump hopes to accomplish with this communication.  If the spending bill does not become law by midnight there will be another government shutdown.  And of course for the bill to become law, he must sign it.

The ill-advised tweet seems to be another attempt by Trump to show Congress that he is in charge, not them.  We’ve previously reported that the $1.3 trillion spending bill did not contain many of the items that the president favored.

This should be an interesting day in Washington as Trump has once again created chaos for Congress and he has sent Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan scrambling for a solution.

Most people think that if the government shuts down the public will blame Republicans since they control all branches of government.
