The NRA And GOP Are Terrified As Senator Tells Students To Walk From The Classroom To Voting Booth

Republicans and their NRA backs got more bad news on Wednesday as Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said the country is closer than it ever has been to a victory on gun control because students are going to march from the classroom to the voting booth.

Video:

Blumenthal was asked why Congress hasn’t done anything on guns during an interview on MSNBC, and he answered, “Because Congress is complicit, and the NRA managed to mobilize single-issue voters to hold Congress in a vice-like grip. What we’re seeing, Katy, that is so powerful is a social movement much like the civil rights movement, the women’s health care movement, marriage equality movement, anti-war movement. In the making we have a potential impact. If the students not only walk out of the class but walk into the polls come election day, and that’s what I sense is happening and that’s why I think we’re closer to victory than ever before.”

What really terrifies the NRA and Republicans

Republicans and the NRA can and will ignore the student walkout, but what they can’t ignore is the fact that these voting age students will be heading to the polls for the first time in November. We talk about the Blue Wave that is coming in November, but there is also a gun control wave coming that is being fueled that action and activism of younger Americans.

Time is running out on the NRA/Republican way of ignoring mass shootings. Business as usual is no longer tolerated. The next generation of voters are beginning to come of age, and they don’t want their future to be terrorized in the schools like they have been. Sen. Blumenthal was right. A victory on gun reform is closer than it has ever been, and it is the students of America who are leading the charge for change.
