Trump’s Job Killing Tariff To Go Into Effect Next Week

Peter Navarro, Director of the White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, said that Trump’s tariffs that will harm consumers and the American economy would go into effect later next week.

Video:

When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper when the tariffs would go into effect, Navarro said, “We expect sometime next week. The office of legal counsel will put form and legality on proclamation and the president will sign them….. The latest the following week. Basically, we want to be very careful, dot the I’s and cross the T’s, make sure we go through all the final legal hoops and that’s where we are now.”

Navarro also said that there would be no country exemptions because Trump wants to send a message to the rest of the world.

The message that Trump is trying to send isn’t meant for the rest of the world. He is trying to play to his shrinking base of support. Trump thinks the tariff plan will play well in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, which as a theoretical idea, it might. The problem will come when the rest of the world retaliates against Trump’s Gilded Age trade policy, and prices go up in the US, while jobs are lost .

One can also expect the stock market to keep tanking, as Wall Street is realizing that they can’t ignore Trump and live in a bubble. Trump is full of bad ideas, and he has the ability to hurt the US economy on a whim.

At a time when concerns are growing about inflation, the last thing the US needed was a tariff, but as usual, it’s America last and reelection first when it comes to Donald Trump.
