As Twitter was undertaking its massive blocking of bots, many of which are Russian and were utilized to interfere in our election, the Republican Chair of the House Intelligence Committee made a “joke” of asking the Russian bots for help to make an article suggesting the Trump Russia connection is an unsupported conspiracy, urging less focus on Russia, go viral.
Devin Nunes (R-CA) made this joke – you know, the way you would if you were a patriot whose job it was to defend your country when it was under attack from a hostile foreign power and you were doing nothing but howling “hoax!” with your allies at Fox News.
The way you would if you took an oath to defend your country from any enemy foreign or domestic and were doing nothing about an actual ongoing attack.
This is the kind of joke you’d be making in public, as you did nothing to protect your country:
Catch up on mainstream media Russian conspiracy theories in this piece by @FDRLST PS-If you are a Russian Bot please make this go viral PSS-If you’re not a Russian Bot you will become one if you retweet https://t.co/05Gw8cinNX

People were not amused.
The head of the House Intelligence Committee probably thought it was funny to publicly ask Russian intelligence for help, but it's not funny. https://t.co/kokfVgczh7

Instead of doing something to protect the United States from the ongoing Russian attack, an attack that is not a conspiracy theory, an attack that has been confirmed by 17 intelligence agencies and the Mueller indictments, Devin Nunes is making jokes about actual Russian bots who helped divide this country in order to get Donald Trump elected.
The last person on the planet outside of the Trump campaign and family who should be making “jokes” about the Russian spreading of disinformation is Devin Nunes. As House Intelligence Committee chair, Nunes has spent his time actively trying to sabotage the Russia investigation. Devin Nunes is asking for help from the Russians in the same way that Trump asked for Russia’s help to get Hillary Clinton’s emails during the campaign.
What Nunes said wasn’t a joke, and if Robert Mueller is watching, it should get him curious about the role of Rep. Nunes in the Russia scandal.
