Lawrence O’Donnell asked a question that exposed Fox as not a news organization when he asked what would Fox News do if Obama used the same language as Trump?

O’Donnell said, “The President Of The United States had only this deeply perverted thing to say about Russia this weekend. If it was the goal of Russia to create discord, disruption, and chaos within the U.S., then with all of the committee hearings, investigations, and party hatred, they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. They are laughing their asses off in Moscow. Get smart America! And this is where we pause to consider just for a moment what if. What if Barack Obama had ever used language like that in his official public communication as President Of The United States? What would the reaction have been on Fox News and the right-wing trump worshipping media? They criticized Barack Obama as unpresidential for this. And they criticized him for this. A light color suit in summer, which is actually a classic sartorial tradition. That’s what got you criticized as unpresidential when Barack Obama was president. Donald Trump has debased the public language of the American presidency. He does it every day with his limited vocabulary and his ignorance of proper presidential language. The trump view of Moscow is not shared by everyone working in the White House.”
O’Donnell was right. Fox News would be calling for Obama’s impeachment 24/7 if he did a fraction of what Trump has done. This point matters because of the role that Fox News plays in this White House. Fox News has gone from pushing right-wing propaganda to being the information source for the President Of The United States. Trump is a president who doesn’t read or absorb intelligence in written form. Trump watches Fox News, and because the president is a Fox News junkie the cable news channel controls what Trump talks about.
The Fox News hypocrisy matters more than ever, and it is vital that people like Lawrence O’Donnell keep calling it out.
