In A Crushing Moment, Trey Gowdy Completely Destroys Trump’s Claim Of Memo Vindication

Rep. Trey Gowdy’s debunking of Trump’s claim that he has been vindicated by the Nunes memo was a crushing moment for teetering president.

Video:

When asked on CBS’s Face The Nation if the memo vindicated Trump, Gowdy answered, “I actually don’t think it has any impact on the Russia probe for this reason… Not to me, it doesn’t. I was pretty intricately involved in the drafting of it. There is a Russia investigation without a dossier, so to the extent, the memo deals with the dossier and the FISA process, the dossier has nothing to do with the meeting at Trump Tower. The dossier has nothing to do with an e-mail sent by Cambridge, the dossier has nothing to did with George Papadopoulos’ meeting in Great Britain. Also doesn’t have anything to do with obstruction of justice, so here is going to be a Russia probe even without a dossier.”

We’ve seen this movie before. Now that Trey Gowdy is retiring, he is free to speak his mind, and what he had to say was absolutely crushing for Trump and his cover-up enablers. Gowdy helped to draft the memo. He knows it better than Nunes and Trump because he had a hand in writing. Nunes and Trump didn’t bother to read the memo or the underlying intelligence that the memo is based on.

For this reason alone, Rep. Gowdy has more credibility on the memo than Nunes and the White House. The memo doesn’t vindicate Trump. The memo doesn’t find that Trump did nothing wrong. The Nunes memo is a thinly disguised rehash of conspiracy theories that is intended to harm the FBI and give Trump the pretense he needs to fire Rod Rosenstein.

Gowdy is leaving Congress, and it sounds like he wants nothing to do with the memo minefield that Trump has laid for Republicans.
