In her quest to put a positive spin on President Trump’s State of the Union address, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders insulted Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for not smiling enough.
During an appearance on CNN, Sanders responded to the question of what Trump could do to unite the country by saying he should do “exactly what he did” during his speech on Tuesday night. She then proceeded to attack Pelosi.
“I think she should smile a lot more often,” she said. “I think the country would be better for it. She seems to kind of embody the bitterness that belongs in the Democratic Party right now.”

As a woman herself, Sanders should know that telling a woman she should smile more is sexist, but it’s clear that she’ll stoop to any rhetoric she has to in order to defend Trump.
Rather than smiling, Pelosi was busy speaking out against the claims Trump made in his speech.
“If President Trump wants to lower the price of prescription drugs, he should stop trying to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and instead build on it,” she tweeted.
She also called out Trump’s statements on immigration, theĀ GOP tax bill, and the stock market’s surge.
