Lazy Trump To Skip Tour To Go Back To Bed And Tweet After State Of The Union

Trump will break with the precedent set by recent presidents and not go out on a state tour to argue for his policies after the SOTU. Instead, the President will be having “critical meetings” according to the White House. Critical meetings are apparently now what the White House calls laying in bed and tweeting.

Video:

Kristen Welker of NBC News reported, “He’s going to be breaking tradition on one point. Which is that typically presidents hit the road after their State Of The Union address. Not President Trump. He’s not planning a multistate tour to pitch his policies. Instead, he’s going to be here holding critical meetings at the White House.”

Critical meetings are the new executive time for Trump

It is impossible for a president to hit the road and argue for their policies when they don’t have any. The White House’s decision not to send Trump on the road is a hint that viewers of the State Of The Union can expect to see a policy free speech that will call for a crackdown on immigration while Trump pats himself on the back for his imaginary accomplishments. The President will read the speech in his bored monotone indoor voice, and there will be a DC pundits who immediately wet themselves claiming that this is the moment when Trump became president.

The reality is that Trump is going to read his speech then retreat back to the White House for a couple of days of Fox News and tweeting before he heads off for the weekend to golf at one of his properties. A policy tour would interfere with Trump’s busy schedule of tweeting in bed . The President is supposed to be laying out a policy vision for the country, but Donald Trump would rather eat cheeseburgers while watching Fox News and tweeting than try to muster an effort at presidential leadership.
