Someone in the White House or Congress leaked a Trump outburst where he called dark skin majority countries shitholes, as Trump’s racism has never been more obvious.
President Trump grew frustrated with lawmakers Thursday in the Oval Office when they floated restoring protections for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as part of a bipartisan immigration deal, according to two people briefed on the meeting.
“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to these people, referring to African countries and Haiti. He then suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries like Norway, whose prime minister he met Wednesday.
To summarize, Trump wants less brown and black people immigrating to the United States and more Nordic and European whites.
And yet, some Republicans can’t understand why the vast majority of Americans think that Trump is a racist.
These comments are no surprise. Trump began his presidential campaign by calling Mexicans rapists. This is a man who defended white supremacist violence after Charlottesville. Donald Trump views non-white as inferior. His racist views drive his immigration policy. Trump wants to build a wall along the southern US border because he thinks that all Mexicans are rapists, drug dealers, and criminals. It is no coincidence that Trump’s Muslim ban applies to people with brown and black skin.
Trump wants the Dreamers deported. He doesn’t want a DACA fix.
Everything that this president has done on the topic of immigration and migration to the United States strongly suggests a racist point of view.
