A Republican lawmaker in Kentucky has committed suicide after being accused of molesting a teenage girl, according to new reports on Wednesday night.
WDRB.com reports that Kentucky State Rep. Dan Johnson died of “probable suicide.”
More from the report: “Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell said Johnson drove on to the bridge over the Salt River on Greenwell Ford Road in Mt. Washington, parked on the north side of it and shot himself in front of his car. His body was found on the bank of the river, just past the bridge.”
The shocking news comes after Johnson posted this message on Facebook around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday:
The accusations from NPR are false GOD and only GOD knows the truth, nothing is the way they make it out to be. AMERICA will not survive this type of judge and jury fake news . WDRB.com also reported that “police were alerted after someone saw that Facebook post by Johnson. Officers then pinged Johnson’s phone and found his body.”
Johnson’s suicide comes a day after he held a press conference at his church, where he denied the recent allegations, which accused him of molesting a 17-year-old girl on New Year’s Eve in 2012.
It’s just the latest in a flurry of accusations that have been thrown at lawmakers in both parties in recent weeks, including Democratic Al Franken and failed GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore.
