Mike Flynn to Testify that Donald Trump Directed His Contact with the Russians

A potential bombshell resides within an ABC report that claims former national security adviser retired Gen. Michael Flynn is prepared to testify that President Trump and senior officials directed him to make contact with Russians.

The ABC News report states Flynn “is prepared to testify that Donald Trump directed him to make contact with the Russians, initially as a way to work together to fight ISIS in Syria.”

However, Reuters could not immediately verify the report, which cited a Flynn confidant.

This potential bombshell wasn’t lost on the AP either.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into the Trump campaign’s possible collusion with Russia on its interference with the 2016 election just took an ominous turn with Flynn’s defection.

President Trump has been trying to keep Flynn in line since the probe began, but the Mueller team most likely used Flynn’s son and his own lies to the FBI as a weapon to get him to turn on Trump.

The ABC report explained that Flynn felt abandoned by Trump, “A close confidant told ABC News that Flynn felt abandoned by Trump in recent weeks, and told friends about the decision to make the plea deal within the last 24 hours as he grew increasingly concerned about crippling legal costs he would face if he continued to contest the charges.”

Vice President Mike Pence was the head of the Trump transition team and responsible for vetting people. If this report is accurate, the window of plausible deniability for Pence just got a lot smaller.

Given the serious implications of Flynn’s claim about senior Trump transition officials, Republicans shouldn’t be allowed to pass anything financial backed by Trump until the Russia probe is finished and Trump has released his own tax returns.
