It is all falling apart for Trump as one of his foreign policy advisers has pled guilty to a charge of making false statements to the FBI related to efforts to set up meetings between Russians and Trump.
Ten days ago, Newsweek reported, “Papadopoulos because he sent emails to several officials attempting to set up meetings between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, among other Russian government officials. Investigators are looking into whether different members, like Papadopoulos, have colluded with Russian operatives prior to and throughout the election.”
As the Manafort indictment hit the news, the George Papadopoulos case was unsealed:
The story is likely to be buried under the Manafort indictment, but it important in its own right. A Trump foreign policy adviser was trying to set up meetings between Trump and the Russians during the campaign. He then lied about it to the FBI, which as the country will probably find out will be the first in a long string of lies to law enforcement by Trump associates.
Papadopoulos lied about links between members of the Trump campaign and Russia, and he lied about the Trump campaign coordinating with Russia.
It is looking more and more like the FBI has something on the Trump campaign coordinating with the Russians during the 2016 election.
Things are getting worse for Trump by the second, so as the President continues to try to deny and distract, how deeply Putin infiltrated his campaign is becoming publicly known.
