Sen. John McCain told reporters that his committee is working on accepting a bipartisan amendment that would prevent Trump from banning transgender persons from the military.
McCain, the chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee said that his committee is trying to add the amendment that would protect transgender soldiers from Trump’s ban to the NDAA:
🚨Asked McCain if he'll accept amendment to NDAA to block Trump's transgender troop ban: "We're working on it. We've been talking for days."

The amendment is a bipartisan effort by Sens. Gillibrand (D-NY) and Collins (R-ME) to stop Trump from implementing his bigoted ban. McCain, like most of the Senate, opposes the ban, and if he gets the amendment added to the final bill, it will almost certainly pass in the Senate.
John McCain has turned into a major thorn in Donald Trump’s side. McCain cast the deciding vote that killed the Republican bid to repeal Obamacare. He drafted his own Afghanistan policy after the criticizing the Trump administration for not having one, and now, he is on the verge of dealing Trump a big defeat on his transgender military ban.
As McCain battles brain cancer, he has stepped up and shown some of the character that earned him his maverick reputation.
Trump’s empty bluster has been no match for McCain.
