Trump’s Own Lawyers Confirm That The President Is Under Federal Criminal Investigation

Trump’s own lawyers submitted memos to Special Counsel Robert Mueller arguing that the President did not obstruct justice, which confirms that Trump is under federal criminal investigation.

The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) reported, “One memo submitted to Mr. Mueller by the president’s legal team in June laid out the case that Mr. Trump has the inherent authority under the constitution to hire and fire as he sees fit and therefore didn’t obstruct justice when he fired Mr. Comey as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in May, these people said. Another memo submitted the same month outlined why they believe Mr. Comey would make an unsuitable witness, calling him prone to exaggeration, unreliable in congressional testimony and the source of leaks to the news media, these people said.”

Trump’s lawyers are arguing that the President has unlimited power to hire and fire for whatever reason he wants and that Comey is a liar who isn’t telling the truth about their meetings. Argument number one doesn’t apply because the President is not allowed to hire and fire at will if the motive for the action is to obstruct an ongoing federal investigation. Argument number two is hopeless because Comey is known and well regarded as a person of integrity and character while the President can’t make it through a full day without telling at least five lies.

The President Of The United States is definitely under criminal investigation. Trump’s attempt to cover-up the Russia scandal may end up being what gets him impeached. It is rare that the stakes of a midterm election have been so high. If Democrats win back the House, they will be in a position to push forward on Trump impeachment by January 2019. Trump could lose his Republican congressional firewall as soon as next November. If this happens, all bets are off as to whether or not Trump completes his first term in office.
