Even Trump’s own White House advisers are admitting that congressional Republicans don’t fear or respect their own president.
Maggie Haberman of The New York Times tweeted:
Two advisers to POTUS recently told me they know that Congress Rs don't fear Trump and don't respect him https://t.co/CLf8Ydgo0V

What White House advisers stated was backed up by comments the Times reported from a Republican Senator in July, “A Republican senator, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he wanted to preserve his relationship with Mr. Trump, put it more bluntly. The president, he said, scares no one in the Senate, not even the pages.”
Trump can’t get anything done, and his words mean nothing because Republicans know that he has no real power. Why Republicans are so certain that they have nothing to fear from Trump could go back to how he won the election. The lack of fear of Trump might be based on the fact that he was barely able to win the election with the help of the Russians. Trump has no broad constituency, no discipline, and nothing at his disposal to threaten Congressional Republicans with.
Republicans know that Trump is fundamentally lazy, so he will not go into their districts and campaign against them. Trump is also unfocused, so even if he is angry at a member of Congress today, by tomorrow, he will be mad about something else. Trump has no policy knowledge, so he can’t set an agenda, or offer up his own proposals to negate anything that Republicans are working on.
Congressional Republicans don’t view Trump as a check on their branch of government, so they are running wild. Without a president to herd them and keep them in line, Republicans are spending all of their time fighting with each other.
It doesn’t get any worse than the White House admitting that a congressional majority controlled by their own party doesn’t respect their boss.
