Other presidents would have made sure to sign the Russia sanctions bill in front of the media to send a clear message that Russian election would not be tolerated, but Trump chose to sign the bill with no formal announcement or media present to keep the whole thing quiet.
CNN reported, “President Donald Trump signed into law Wednesday morning legislation that levies new sanctions against Russia and restricts Trump’s own ability to ease sanctions in place against Moscow, a White House official said.”
The White House tried to kill this sanctions bill before both the House and Senate overwhelmingly passed it. The reason why Trump signed this bill is that he had no other choice. If the President didn’t sign the bill, he faced the prospect of an overwhelming override of his veto.
Trump had to sign the legislation, but by signing it without any publicity, the camera hungry president is expressing his displeasure over having to displease Putin.
Only the weakest of the weak would hide while taking action against Russia for attacking a democratically held election in the United States.
