The Boy Scouts deny that anyone from their organization called Donald Trump and praised his speech at their national jamboree that the organization later publicly apologized for.
In a leaked transcript of his interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump said, “And I got a call from the head of the Boy Scouts saying it was the greatest speech that was ever made to them, and they were very thankful. So there was — there was no mix.”
The Scouts responded to Trump’s claims by telling the AP:
On Wednesday, the Scouts responded, “We are unaware of any such call.” Neither of the organization’s two top leaders — President Randall Stephenson and Chief Scout Executive Mike Surbaugh — had placed such a call, the Scouts said.
The head of the Boy Scouts said that the call never happened, so unless it was Jared Kushner on the other end of the line pretending to be the leader of the Boy Scouts, Donald Trump is making it up.
Trump is not used to living in a world where his words matter. The President’s speech was a nightmare for the Boy Scouts. It was full of partisan politics, non-truths, and at one point, Trump swore at the Scouts.
We can choose to believe a president who lies five times a day or a group of people who are literally Boy Scouts.
One doesn’t have to go way out on a limb to conclude that the person who is lying is Donald Trump.
