Dozens Of Members Of Congress To Introduce No Confidence Resolution In Trump

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) will introduce legislation on Wednesday detailing Trump’s unacceptable behavior as president and calling for a vote of no confidence in the President Of The United States.

The resolution was announced in a press release provided to PoliticusUSA, “Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice, will hold a press conference on the introduction of a Resolution of No Confidence in President Donald J. Trump. The resolution details President Trump’s unacceptable behavior as President and expresses a lack of confidence in his service.”

Cohen will be joined by fellow Democratic Representatives Karen Bass (D-CA), Brendan Boyle (D-PA), Andre Carson (D-IN), Judy Chu (D-CA), David Cicilline (D-RI), Mark DeSaulnier (D-CA), Keith Ellison (D-MN), Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), Marcia Fudge (D-OH), Al Green (D-TX), Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), Luis Gutierrez (D-TX), Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Barbara Lee (D-CA), John Lewis (D-GA), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Mark Pocan (D-WI), Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Maxine Waters (D-CA), Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), John Yarmuth (D-KY).

The vote of no confidence is symbolic in the United States, but it is viewed as a public rebuke of a president and their administration. The odds of this legislation getting a vote on the House floor are zero, and if it did, there is no chance that the Republican House majority would pass it, but the movement towards a show of legislative disapproval of Trump is worth watching.

If Democrats take back the House in 2018, they will with 100% certainty use tactics like votes of no confidence to keep the public attention and pressure on Trump. Donald Trump can’t take criticism, so the one way that Democrats could ensure that his administration remains in constant chaos while keeping the American people informed of his activities is to condemn him with resolutions publicly.
