Senator Confirms That Trump Is Under Investigation For Collusion With Russia

Sen. Angus King (I-ME) confirmed that Trump was wrong. The investigation into his campaign for potential collusion is not over, and that the Trump campaign is still under Senate investigation.

King responded to this Trump tweet that suggested that the collusion investigation is over on NBC’s Meet The Press:

CHUCK TODD:

There was one of the tweets this week, the president sort of indicated that the collusion aspect of the investigation is over. Now they’re coming after him on obstruction of justice. But let me ask you this. Where is the Senate Intel Committee on this investigation timetable wise? Are you in the beginning of this investigation, the middle of it, I know you don’t know the exact end date of when you think you’ll be able to draw a conclusion, but at least give me some sense of where you are.

SENATOR ANGUS KING:

Well, first I can say categorically that the collusion, the cooperation aspect of the investigation is not over. And as far as that goes, I’d say we’re 20% into it, just to throw a number at it. A lot of people have said, “When do you think you’ll be done?” Maybe the end of the year. This is a very complex matter, involving thousands of pages of intelligence documents, lots of witnesses. There’s a lot of information yet to go.

Trump certainly made it sound like he was under investigation for collusion, and now he is under investigation for obstruction of justice. The truth is that Trump is under investigation for both potential collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice.

Donald Trump hasn’t been cleared. According to Sen. King, the Senate Intelligence Committee is only 20% of the way to being done with the investigation into whether or not the Trump campaign colluded or cooperated with Russia.

Trump’s claim that no evidence was found of collusion was more fake news coming directly from the commander in chief.
