The proof that Democratic enthusiasm is real can be found in Virginia on Tuesday night as Democratic turnout for the gubernatorial primary is up 130% compared to the last primary.
Gabriel Debenedetti of Politico reported on the big Democratic turnout:
Meanwhile, w 2/3 of precincts in, the Dem in-person turnout's already blown past the TOTAL tally from 2009, the last competitive D contest.

Democratic turnout thru the roof. Roughly 3/4 of precincts reporting on both sides. ~384k Dems have voted. ~234k Republicans. In Virginia!

VA story #1: the shocker no one saw coming on the R side.
#2: Dem turnout skyrocketing. Already @ 130% of last primary, many votes to come.

At one time, Democrats didn’t show up for these sort of off-off year primaries. Virginia is becoming bluer by the second and the race between Tom Perriello and Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam was a barn burner that attracted national attention, but the fact, so many voters turned out to vote for the Democrat shows that the electorate is itching to vote, and the reality that the candidate who won ran anti-Trump ads hints at an electorate that is itching to translate their anger into votes.
Republicans could be in some very big trouble in 2018.
