Senate Republicans Say It Would Be Stupid Of Them To Let You See Their Health Care Bill

Senate Republicans are going to be done writing their health care bill tonight, but they are refusing to release it to the public yet because they think it would be stupid to let the American people see it this soon.

Axios reported:
Senate Republicans are on track to finish writing their draft health care bill this evening but have no plans to publicly release the bill, according to two senior Senate GOP aides.

“We aren’t stupid,” said one of the aides. One issue is that Senate Republicans plan to keep talking about it after the draft is done: “We are still in discussions about what will be in the final product so it is premature to release any draft absent further member conversations and consensus.”

Republicans are admitting that they don’t have enough votes to pass the bill right out of the gate and that if they let the public and other Senators see the bill too soon, it will probably not pass.

Mitch McConnell is trying to pull the same stunt that Speaker of the House Paul Ryan pulled with the American Health Care Act. McConnell is not going to let the public, and the legislative opposition see the legislation until the last second before the Senate votes. Republicans are trying to negate public outrage and protests by not giving people the knowledge and time needed to organize.

If the bill were any good and could pass on its own merits, Republicans wouldn’t need to hide it.

The American people better mobilize and get ready to fight for their right to affordable healthcare, because Mitch McConnell is planning a sneak attack before the 4th of July.
