NSA Director Mike Rogers said that his communications with Trump were classified so he would not confirm or deny that Trump asked him to intervene on Russia.
Video:
The relevant question isn’t whether or not intelligence officials felt threatened. The question is did Donald Trump ask senior officials to intervene and stop the FBI investigation into Russia and the 2016 presidential election?
On that question, Director Rogers wouldn’t answer because he believed that his conversations with the President are classified. Rogers could have killed the press reports and bailed out Trump by saying that Trump never asked him to intervene. His non-answer is telling in that it wasn’t a denial of reports that Trump is attempting to intervene in the Russia investigation.
The question and answer portion of this hearing are off to a bumpy start for Trump.
