Trumpcare Is Crashing And Burning In The Senate As Former GOP Supporter Turns On Trump

Trumpcare is starting to go down in a ball of flames in the Senate, as Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said he wouldn’t bet on ACA repeal and replace passing, and that he is backing a short-term bill to stabilize the insurance markets.

CNBC’s John Harwood tweeted:

A bill to stabilize the insurance markets is not a repeal and replace of the Affordable Care Act. Johnson has been one of Trump’s loudest supporters, so if he is turning negative on Trumpcare to the point of supporting a different type of legislation that is a sign that the health care bill is dying in the Senate.

As we’ve seen in the House, just because a bill is crashing and burning, that doesn’t mean that it is dead.

Republicans could still pass something in the Senate, or they could try to put it off until next year. With 2018 being a midterm election, it is not likely that they would make a serious effort to pass health care. If the bill doesn’t happen this year, it probably won’t come up again until 2019, assuming Republicans keep control of the House and Senate.

If Democrats take over one or both, Trumpcare is dead.

The best way to kill the bill is to you call your Senator often from now until the end of the year.
