A new Kaiser Family Foundation health care tracking poll contained devastating news for Republicans on health care. 84% of Americans and 71% of Republicans want funding to continue for the Medicaid expansion, which means that Republicans have shot themselves in the feet on health care.
Here is the table from the Kaiser Family Foundation:
If the Senate keeps the Medicaid expansion in their bill, it will never pass the House. If Republican Senators create a bill that ends funding for the Medicaid expansion, they will be committing political suicide. Republican have put themselves in a classic no-win situation. The money for a lot of the taxes cuts for the wealthy that Donald Trump and Paul Ryan are dreaming of comes from ending the Medicaid expansion.
The Trump budget is already a joke with a $2 trillion hole in it, but the entire Republican budget plan will be blown to bits if the Medicaid expansion stays in place.
Congressional Republicans have completely screwed up on health care, and if they get rid of the Medicaid expansion, they are going to be punished by voters in a way that they could have never imagined on election night in 2016.
Republicans may end up losing the entire federal government because they couldn’t keep their hands off of health care.
